Detailed product description
Bran is produced during the processing of wheat. It is a source of beneficial digestible and indigestible fibre. A large proportion of wheat bran consists of fibre (43 per cent), which comprises cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin – substances that give bran its hard, woody texture.
Wheat bran performs three key functions in the gut: it retains water and increases the volume of stools; they speed up the movement of stools through the intestines; they bind irritants and toxic substances, cholesterol, bile salts and carcinogens found in the intestines and increase their excretion in the stools.
