Erythritol is a healthier alternative to ordinary sugar. Its sweetness is similar to that of sugar, but unlike sugar, it contains almost no calories. In food and drink, it tastes similar to sugar (without any off-flavours). It
is suitable for the Dukan Diet from Phase 1 onwards, as well as for other weight-loss diets, low-carb eating and for diabetics.
You can use it for cooking, baking and to sweeten drinks.
Erythritol is a natural sweetener. It is produced by the fermentation of glucose. Its sweetness is approximately 70% that of ordinary sugar. You therefore do not need to use large quantities, as with other artificial sweeteners. Unlike sugar, erythritol does not cause tooth decay. Its glycaemic index is 0. It therefore does not affect blood sugar levels.
However, even with erythritol, moderate consumption is advisable; excessive consumption could cause laxative effects in some people. It has no other side effects, though.
Erythritol tastes very similar to ordinary sugar. It does not break down at high temperatures, making it ideal for baking. Simply replace the regular sugar in a recipe with the same amount of erythritol. It
is suitable for sweetening both hot and cold drinks, for baking, and for use in confectionery and other treats.

Usage:
It is particularly suitable for sweetening hot and cold drinks directly, but it has a wide range of uses in the home – for example, in confectionery, frozen desserts, milk-based and fruit-based desserts, or even in baking.
Excessive consumption may have a laxative effect.
Dosage: 1 teaspoon is equivalent to approximately 2/3 of a teaspoon of sugar.
