Detailed product description
Freeze-dried cranberries are 100% cranberries that retain their texture and nutritional value, with no added sugar, colourings, flavourings or preservatives.
Freeze-drying is a process of drying fruit by freezing. The fruit is first rapidly frozen and then dried at a lower pressure, where the water in the fruit turns to vapour, allowing the fruit to retain its natural texture, colour, aroma and, above all, nutritional value, including all the vitamins and minerals found in fresh fruit. Quite simply, everything you find in fresh fruit is also present in freeze-dried fruit. The health
benefits of cranberries:
- Perhaps the best-known benefit of cranberries is the prevention of urinary tract infections. This is because they contain substances that prevent bacteria from adhering to the walls of the bladder and urethra. Regular consumption of cranberries or cranberry juice can significantly reduce the risk of developing these infections.
- Cranberries are rich in antioxidants, such as flavonoids and vitamin C, which protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. These antioxidants may help reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases. Antioxidants also support a healthy immune system and slow down the ageing process.
- Eating cranberries can have a positive effect on heart and blood vessel health. Cranberries help to lower levels of ‘bad’ cholesterol and raise levels of ‘good’ cholesterol. Furthermore, they can help lower blood pressure and improve blood vessel function, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.
- Cranberries have powerful anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce inflammation in the body. Chronic inflammation is linked to a range of health problems, including arthritis, heart disease and other chronic conditions. Regular consumption of cranberries may help to alleviate inflammatory processes and improve overall health.
- Cranberries may also contribute to better digestion. They contain fibre, which supports healthy gut flora and regular bowel movements. Cranberries also contain compounds that may help prevent the development of stomach ulcers caused by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori.
- Thanks to their high content of antioxidants and vitamin C, cranberries have beneficial effects on skin health. They help combat free radicals, which cause skin ageing, and support collagen production, which can lead to firmer and more youthful-looking skin; for this reason, they are also used in cosmetics.
